1. Overview

CranialLab is an interactive educational platform for 3D cranial anatomy visualization and study. The platform includes software, 3D models, images, videos, annotations, and related educational tools.

All content is provided for educational and non-commercial use only, unless explicitly licensed in writing.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CranialLab, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the platform.

3. Intellectual Property Ownership

All content and systems within CranialLab are the exclusive property of CranialLab, including but not limited to:

  • 3D anatomical models and reconstructions

  • Interactive viewer software and rendering system

  • Educational text, labels, and annotations

  • Images, screenshots, and generated media

  • UI/UX design, layout, and visual identity

  • Code, data structures, and proprietary workflows

All rights are reserved.

No ownership or intellectual property rights are transferred through use of the platform.

4. Permitted Educational Use

CranialLab grants users a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • View and interact with content for personal education, teaching, and clinical learning

  • Use exported or downloaded images and videos generated within the platform for:

    • Personal study

    • Classroom teaching

    • Academic presentations

    • Non-commercial educational communication

When sharing exported media, attribution to CranialLab is required where reasonably possible.

5. Strictly Prohibited Uses

Users may NOT:

  • Use any CranialLab content (including exported images/videos) for:

    • Commercial publication

    • Paid courses or monetized educational products

    • Marketing or promotional materials

    • Clinical branding or commercial practice promotion

  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense any content

  • Extract, reconstruct, or reuse 3D models or underlying geometry

  • Scrape, reverse engineer, or replicate the viewer system

  • Build derivative tools or competing anatomy visualization systems using CranialLab assets

  • Remove attribution or modify exported content to obscure origin

6. Donations and Payments (Stripe)

CranialLab may accept voluntary donations via Stripe or other payment providers.

Important:

  • Donations are not payments for access, licensing, or content ownership

  • Donations do not grant any additional usage rights beyond those explicitly stated in these Terms

  • All content access remains governed by the permitted educational use license

7. Exported Media (Key Clarification)

Images and videos generated or downloaded through CranialLab tools are licensed as follows:

Allowed:
  • Educational use (personal, academic, teaching, non-commercial research)

  • Inclusion in lectures, presentations, or classroom materials

  • Sharing in non-commercial academic contexts

Not allowed:
  • Any commercial use or monetization

  • Use in paid products, courses, or subscription content

  • Redistribution as standalone assets or datasets

  • Use in marketing, advertising, or practice promotion

Ownership of underlying models and rendering system remains with CranialLab.

8. Attribution

When sharing CranialLab-generated media in permitted contexts, users should include attribution such as:

“Generated using CranialLab (craniallab.org)”

9. Educational Disclaimer

CranialLab is an educational tool only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. It should not be used as the sole basis for clinical decision-making.

10. Enforcement & Termination

CranialLab reserves the right to:

  • Restrict or revoke access for misuse or violation of these Terms

  • Disable access to exported content functionality in cases of abuse

  • Pursue legal remedies for unauthorized commercial use or redistribution of assets

11. Changes to Terms

These Terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of CranialLab constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
